Lorne Abramson, CFA, CFP® Principal
Prior to co-founding ELM Advisors, Lorne spent five years as a portfolio manager and financial advisor at Smith Barney. Previously, Lorne was a principal at Spare, Kaplan, Bischel & Associates, a San Francisco institutional investment advisor, where he worked for seven years. His quantitative work on socially responsible investing (SRI) was published in the Journal of Investing and subsequently has been cited in various other research internationally. In 2007, his work was one of twenty key SRI studies reviewed in a joint report published by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative and Mercer Consulting. Lorne has also been quoted in Fortune magazine, CBS Marketwatch.com and various other business news media.
Lorne earned a B.A. from Rutgers College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Lorne is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Financial Planner®. He is also a member of the CFA Institute, Security Analysts of San Francisco, and Financial Planning Association, and currently serves on the Jewish Community Endowment Fund Professional Subcommittee and the Investment Committee of the San Francisco Jewish Home for the Aged.
Outside of the office, the mild-mannered Lorne transforms into a passionate Deadhead and jazz fan. He also enjoys rooting for the New York Mets and New York Giants.
